Port Vale have announced that manager Micky Adams has departed the club to tske up the hot seat at Sheffield United.
The 48 year-old ends an 18 month reign in Burslem where he has turned the Valinats into a high flying League Two side as they currently occupy second place.
The move ends over a week of speculation where Adams has remained a frim favourite amongst the bookies odds.
For Vale's New Year's Day trip to Rotherham they will have a careatker team of Geoff Horsefield and Mark Grew in charge
