Former Vale star nets for Galaxy

Former Vale midfielder netted LA Galaxy's only goal in a 1-0 over Puntanenas FC in a pre-season friendly overnight.
The Stafford born forward has taken over from David Beckham as he was away with AC Milan last nigth at Old Trafford.
He made 78 appearances for the Valiants netting seven goals having come through the ranks as a youngster at Vale Park.
He left Burslem for Coventry in July 2006, the Sky Blues were then managed by current Vale boss Micky Adams and before Christmas Birchall spent time training back at Vale Park ahead of his MLS return.
